The directive ordering the Tourism Office of the Galápagos National Park Service has been rescinded. There is still no official explanation beyond a "misunderstanding". The office is now open for business though

A new and inexplicable directive has been sent to the Director of the Galápagos National Park Service, biologist Eliecer Cruz.  The directive comes directly from the governing body INEFAN - The Ecuadorian Forestry, Natural Area, and Wildlife Institute. The National Park Service Office of Tourism is closed. The Minister of the Environment has suspended all classes of authorizations related to tour boat space, licences, capacities, changes, itineraries, routes, and everything of an administrative aspect for a period of 4 months.

More information will be posted as soon as this extraordinary decision has been explained.
